The following announcement has been made today by Pearson (Edexcel) regarding this summer’s iGCSE exams:

Today we have confirmed three important updates:

We will use a robust approach based on teacher assessment for International GCSE and International AS/A Level assessment in May/June 2021 and exams will not go ahead as planned

We will offer an additional exam series for International GCSE later this year

The International AS/A Level October exam series will go ahead as planned.

Information on private candidates is as follows:

We are very aware that all students have worked incredibly hard towards their exams in a range of settings such as schools, colleges and work, including private candidates who have been working independently. We are committed to supporting all students, including private candidates, and will share specific details soon.

Consideration for private candidates is included in the Ofqual consultation regarding teacher assessed grades. Once the details of this approach are confirmed, we will share further details, including how it specifically applies to Private Candidates.
